MARIJUANA
One of the most important issues in the discussion of the legal status of Marijuana is that the government has no right at all to interfere in the habits of the citizens. If anything you do does not affect the people around you in any way there's no sense in having a law that prohibits it. If I enjoy wearing a Kangaroo disguise and setting my ass on fire in my house, I have the right to do it. Technically the state is there to look after us, but why should they violate the privacy of our home?.
Individuals have the right to do whatever they want as long as they don't affect any person. There are thousands of studies that have proved that Marijuana is not a lethal drug and does not cause a physical addiction, it's just a plant that can help a person suffering from AIDS to be able to stand the pain he is dealing with. Notice that I'm not talking about Heroin, Morphine, Cocaine or any other narcotic that can actually create a very intense addiction and even kill its users. Marijuana should have the same status as alcohol, only adults should consume it as they are old enough to decide what's best for them.
For example in the USA, marijuana is classified as a very dangerous drug, it's in the same category as cocaine or heroin. So we can see how not only the government denies the individual rights of their citizens but they ignore studies that are supported by organizations and scientifics all around the globe.
The issue of how bad or good is consuming Marijuana is a different subject from its legal status. I believe that any person has the right do as they wish, if someone decides to consume pot it's his/her life and his/her choices and no one, not even the government, has the right to judge him/her.
